New University
Formerly a collection of FE colleges, Bucks New University is best known for its nursing and healthcare courses, but also offers specialist degrees not widely available elsewhere, including policing, music management and pilot training.
We won a tender to work with them in 2017 as part of a big digital transformation project, that involved moving hundreds of web pages from their old site to a new one.
Our brief? To rewrite and condense all the content into a clearer, more consistent tone – taking out overly detailed material, and reworking the text to fit the site’s new, more digestible design.
With just three weeks to get everything live, we had to pull out all the stops, bringing in all four of our writers to work on it, with Jo overseeing everything for consistency and tone. It was a mammoth task. But we got it all done: the site went live on time. And we won a ten-month retainer off the back of it, to create more content.
Once we’d established the new tone of voice for the site, our writers applied it to hundreds of pages across different sections – covering everything from applications and accommodation, to student life and Clearing.
We reshaped other sections completely, conducting research into what that part of the site should cover, and writing new content for it.
We’ve written copy for lots of undergraduate and master’s courses, too – interviewing academics and creating a new, more readable structure. The result? Easier to read course descriptions, with the ‘reasons to study at Bucks’ much more prominent and easier to take in.
